About Us

Thompson Hill Metalcraft has been providing sheet metal restoration services since 1989.  Drawing on his 30-plus years of experience in the aerospace industry, Bill Peach entered the craft after leaving his position as an airframe specialist at a major airline.  Shortly before leaving, a co-worker introduced Bill to a metal crafter in New England whose shop specialized in the fabrication of alloy bodies for vintage race cars.  The shop needed skilled journeymen with the experience necessary to perform all  aspects of panel beating.  Bill started as a part timer at the shop until leaving the airline to become a full time employee.  Bill’s knowledge of materials, structures and fastening proved to be an asset to the shop.  Bill was able to hone his welding skills and develop his panel forming skills using the English wheel.  After a period of about two years, Bill decided to start his own business.

Starting out in a two car garage, Bill spent the next 16 years turning out countless projects, both large and small.  A couple of projects appeared in national publications.  Some projects were completed with a great deal of difficulty due to the limited amount of space.  Larger projects demanded more room, and the lack of space was preventing Bill from growing the business.  The decision was made to expand.

A new shop was designed, and in September of 2004 construction began next door.  The new facility has improved lighting, heating, office and storage space and has ample room for multiple projects. and more specialized equipment.
